When changing the layout of a webpage, you don't want your visitors to see any of the pages that will be affected.

So heres a tip: change the name of the pages who's layouts will be affected, and make sure that you have a page that will display a "temporarily unavailable" page. With GoDaddy, a file named "welcome.html" will be the default page, useful for when you are editing the layout or doing another minor change. I have actually never used any other hosting providers except for Blogger, which hosts your blog on blogspot.com.
